PD PARTNER EVENT Burnout isn't a personal failure PD PARTNER EVENT

Burnout isn't a personal failure. It's what happens when capable people operate in systems that weren't built for their brains. And that's a problem worth solving — whether you're the one burning out, or the one responsible for the environment people are burning out in. 🧠

LaunchPad for Life's July 20 Learning Lab is for both.

🧠 Burnout Prevention & Self-Regulation: Why You Feel Capable but Overwhelmed

We're exploring:
✦ Capacity management vs. time management — and why the difference matters enormously
✦ The real signs of cognitive + emotional overload
✦ How masking and unspoken expectations drain energy at every level
✦ Systems that protect people — and how to actually build them

Guest, Brian Kirkland, CAE, is a professional development strategist with 20 years of experience rethinking how organizations support and develop their people. As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent professional, Brian brings firsthand insight into the systemic barriers that show up at work — and what it takes to change them.

If you're exhausted and wondering why, or if you manage people and want to learn how to support them better, this one's for you.

MassCUE President Tracy Sockalosky just got back f MassCUE President Tracy Sockalosky just got back from ISTELive 26 + ASCD in Orlando — and she's still unpacking everything she learned. 💭

Her 5 takeaways:
1️⃣ There's no such thing as the end of the learning journey — even 20+ years in, there's always more to discover (and unlearn).
2️⃣ "Tech" isn't the problem, and bans aren't the answer. As one panelist put it: "There is no research out there that shows well-built technology, implemented well, hurts academic, personal or social outcomes."
3️⃣ We still have work to do for historically underserved students — UDL matters as much today as it did 20 years ago.
4️⃣ Assessment must be a focus of every educator. "If students lack clarity, it's not teaching, it is tutoring."
5️⃣ Connections matter. Community and camaraderie are essential in a profession as demanding as ours.

Tracy also gives a first look at what's ahead at MassCUE Fall Conference 2026 — the session proposals dig into the exact themes (assessment, inclusive practice, the future of ed tech) that have her thinking post-ISTE.
