EXPLORE THE SESSIONS (Sessions are offered both Wednesday and Thursday)
Session 1: 10:00-10:45am, Future Ready Librarians Court
As the role of school librarians evolves, so must the frameworks that guide their work. Future Ready Librarians 3.0 marks a bold step forward, integrating trends in AI, digital citizenship, literacy, and equity to keep librarians at the forefront of educational transformation.
This session offers an in-depth look at the updated framework, developed with the FRL Advisory Group and AASL. We’ll highlight key updates on responsible AI integration, defending intellectual freedom, and supporting student and educator well-being. Participants will explore how AI is reshaping library leadership, partnerships, and ethics, while gaining strategies to ensure equitable access, champion diverse collections, and protect intellectual freedom. Attendees will also engage in collaborative discussions and leave with an action plan for applying FRL 3.0 in their schools and communities.
Session 2: 11:05-11:55am, Future Ready Librarians Court
This session equips librarians and educators with strategies to help students become ethical, informed, and empowered digital citizens. As technology and AI continue to evolve, teaching media literacy and digital ethics requires new approaches in both classrooms and communities. Using the Future Ready Librarian Framework as a guide, we’ll explore how media literacy connects to student-centered learning and family engagement, while sharing practical ways to embed digital citizenship, critical thinking, and responsible AI use into everyday instruction.
Participants will discover free tools such as The Achievery, AT&T Connected Learning Centers and Common Sense Media, along with real-world examples, adaptable lesson ideas, and ready-to-use resources. Together, we’ll look at strategies for navigating misinformation, evaluating digital content, fostering safe and inclusive online behaviors, and building student voice, agency, and equity in learning environments.
Session 3: 1:15-2:05am, Future Ready Librarians Court
Future Ready Librarians play a pivotal role in today's educational landscape by leading the charge in selecting, integrating, organizing, sharing, and teaching digital resources and tools that align with ISTE and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Standards for Learners.
This session offers a comprehensive exploration of the critical digital learning tools and strategies employed by Future Ready Librarians to foster inquiry, creativity, collaboration, curation, exploration, and engagement in the learning process. Attendees will gain valuable insights into practical tools, innovative ideas, and inspiring projects that can be implemented immediately within their own libraries and across their school communities.
You will leave with a toolbox of digital resources, project ideas, and strategies that can be readily implemented in your library and shared throughout your school community.
