Webinar Spotlight: Bringing Emotional Literacy
to Life in Elementary Schools
on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 5 PM (ET)
What does it look like when emotional literacy becomes part of everyday learning across an entire school?
On May 11, 2026 at 5 PM ET join a webinar featuring #SameHere Global in partnership with Novel Effect, highlighting how an elementary school in Georgia is building on a successful, school-wide emotional literacy initiative to help students better understand, express, and connect over their own experiences.
In its first year, a media specialist, school counselor, and technology director led a school-wide commitment to emotional literacy, using interactive read-alouds and soundscapes by Novel Effect to help students explore charactersβ emotions as a way to build understanding and empathy.
Now, in partnership with #SameHere Global, the school is expanding this work by introducing a shared, science-informed framework for understanding linear changes in regulation and a common language for check-ins. In the next phase of this initiative, the school will implement the #SameHere Scale, a simple continuum from Thriving to Sinking, to help students identify their nervous system states, understand how life events influence those states, and communicate using clear βIβ statements. This approach creates a consistent framework across an entire school community for self-awareness, strengthens peer connection, and normalizes everyday conversations about mental health applying to us all.
This webinar will show how you can build on existing literacy practices and evolve them into a classroom-ready approach that can scale across your school to support both academic engagement and emotional well-being.
In this webinar, you will learn how to:
- Extend read-aloud conversations into real-life emotional connections
- Introduce a shared common language for understanding regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Support students in identifying and expressing their emotional states
- Use interactive soundscapes to increase engagement and comprehension
- Discover how to turn everyday literacy moments into opportunities to bridge to both academic success and emotional wellbeing.
Join us this May during Mental Health Awareness Month.
