Emergent Bilingual Students in Our New Now (Vendor-Sponsored)

Join Lexia on March 11th as we take a deep dive into the emergent bilingual learning experience and provide educators with culturally responsive strategies to help Multilingual Learners quickly develop language and literacy acquisition skills. 

 José A. Viana–Lexia’s Senior Advisor and former Assistant Deputy Secretary at the US Department of Education–will discuss the benefits of bilingualism, including how to nurture emergent bilingual students’ language learning with a culturally responsive asset model of instruction in any learning environment facing us today – remote, hybrid or in-person. 

Participants will takeaway how to: – Navigate district challenges by utilizing evidence-proven solutions to create space for connecting and providing opportunities for speech. – Use educational technology to support a personalized, adaptive learning experience. – Leverage cultural individualities, knowledge, and perceptions as opportunities for more effective teaching. – Support student journey to multilingual learning with an introduction to the new Rosetta Stone English.

About the Instructors

Presenter:

José A. Viana is a former Assistant Deputy Secretary and Director at the U.S. Department of Education. During his tenure, he was the principal advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Education on all matters related to the education of English Learners as the Director of the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA).
