Kids Love Comics with Google Slides

In this Tech4You course, participants will create a short comic using Google Slides. Participants will utilize a variety of image search tools and file types to gather resources for this project. Participants will create a 3-5 panel comic with gutters, scene setters, characters, props and more to bring a short story to life. Students love graphic novels and the chance to make one of their own. Join in on the fun!

Online graduate instructor for Ed Technology Specialists and MassCUE with a master’s degree from Lesley University in Educational Technology as well as a bachelor’s degree in Education K-8 from Southern Connecticut State University. Conference presenter across New England and in New York with over 20 years of teaching experience in the k-12 classroom. At Groton-Dunstable Ms. Kaplan works to integrate digital technology into student and staff learning across the district in addition to teaching Digital Literacy and Computer Science courses at the middle school. Outline:  

Review some examples and get to know the basics.

Gather resources and include links in the notes section of the slide. 

Use your image background(s) to build 3-5 panels with gutters for your story

Add your scene setters for the beginning, middle and end of your comic.

Add character(s) with speech and thought bubbles to help tell your story.

Add a Word Art title.

Publish and share your file.
