The HyperDoc Handbook – Book Study: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps

HyperDocs provide innovative ways to engage students and package digital lessons on a Google Doc. The HyperDoc Handbook is a practical reference guide for all K-12 educators looking to transform their teaching into blended learning environments. After reading this handbook, educators will feel equipped to design their own HyperDocs using both Google Apps and the nearly endless interactive web tools available online. Over the course of 4 weeks, you will explore digital tools to support student learning and develop your own Hyperdoc(s). Participants will be required to reflect upon their learning each week andalso comment on the work of othersYou do not need Google Classroom to create a HyperDoc.

Graduate Credit (Pending)  At the first class, participants may choose to register for 1 graduate credit through Worcester State University for an additional fee of $125. All participants, including those who do not opt for graduate credit, will receive a certificate documenting the number of course hours attended. 

Jean Gately

Jeannie Gately is the Technology Integration Specialist at SEEM Collaborative. Prior to this position, Jeannie worked at SEEM for 12 years as Lead Teacher for Curriculum and Academics. Jeannie also provides Assistive Technology assessments for SEEM and its Member Districts. She has taught courses in technology and UDL for several local colleges, universities, and programs. 

 

Participants will create a HyperDoc for use in their classroom or practice. **HyperDocs are a way to package digital lessons in order to create quality inquiry-based learning experiences. Participants can design these lessons and give them to students to explore the content, adjust their understanding through the explanation of the concepts, then apply their knowledge in a meaningful way. Participants may choose to design them for independent, self-paced learning; while others design them to blend with different instructional strategies varying from 1:1 conferring, small group instruction, to whole group teacher-directed instruction. Teachers are tasked with integrating several best instructional practice to meet the needs of every learner.
