Google Tour Creator

This session is geared toward educators who would like to learn how to create their own ‘Google Expedition’ with Google’s new tool: Tour Creator. Participants will walk through the entire process starting from taking their own 360 photos with their mobile phones or 360 camera, followed by importing photos into Google’s Tour Creator. Let’s face it, now is the time to showcase and deliver learning through a different format. Tour Creator can be a great alternative. 

During the day, participants can expect to: 

  • Learn how Tour Creator can connect with curriculum
  • Be exposed to Tour Creator examples (professional and personal)
  • Learn how to take 360 images with mobile phone or 360camera
  • Learn how to upload 360 images to computer
  • Learn how Tour Creator works
  • Learn how to embed audio files to tour
  • Learn how to create ‘hot spots’ in tour
  • Be given time to create their very own Tour Creator

**NOTE: 

  1. Verify that your school EDU domain has Google Tour Creator available as it is not turned on by default. To test, go tohttps://arvr.google.com/tourcreator/and see if Tour Creator is available in your domain. 
  2. Attendees must bring their own laptop/chromebookwith the latest version of Chrome
  3. Attendees must bring their own phone with Google Street View app on the phone. Space must be available on device to take pictures.
  4. While a 360 camera is not required to complete tasks during the training, it can be extremely helpful in creating content. Attendees are recommended in having a 360 camera. One that presenter has used and recommends is theRichoTheta 360 camera. Version Richo Theta S or higher will work. If you don’t have a 360 camera, you will need to use your mobile phone for taking 360 images.

Prerequisites Participants must bring the following: 1. Laptop/Chromebook with the lastest version of Chrome. 2. Mobile phone that has space to take pictures. 3. Google Street View App installed on phone. 4. Recommended (not required) that participants also have a 360 camera for ease when taking 360 pictures. Richo Theta camera is a good camera. Richo Theta S model or higher will work Audience 

Craig Sheil

Craig has been in the education field for 16 years. He started his career teaching high school mathematics. He now works at Bedford High School, NH as a Technology Integration Teacher full time and part time at Fitchburg State University co-teaching graduate level technology courses. He is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and has helped implement G-Suite for the past 8 years at his high school.
