Learning Tour Overview

This virtual learning tour will highlight Future Quest Island-Explorations (FQI-E), a game-based curriculum funded by the US Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. FQI-E is designed to improve outcomes for upper elementary students on self-concept, social-emotional competencies, and early college and career awareness through a series of standards-based lessons and activities aligned with grades 3-5 ELA, ASCA (American School Counselors Association), ISTE (International Society of Technology Educators) standards, and the Possible Selves Framework (person, friend, learner, and worker). The curriculum includes online and hands-on lessons/activities and instruction around goal-setting, portfolio development, STEAMS careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Service & Trade), and school-to-home connections. Participants will learn about implementing FQI-E with high-needs students in grades 3-5 for free as a participant in our research study.

Agenda for the tour:

  • Overview of Future Quest Island-Explorations
  • Introduction to Possible Selves and available resources on career exploration in elementary schools
  • Demonstration of the FQI-E curriculum and accompanying digital teaching toolkit
  • Study information and expectations
