Networking 101 for Dummy Administrators
Many Technology Directors come from an education background and find it difficult to keep up with the constant changes in network technology. Suzanne McLaughlin, the Network Engineer from Unicom, will present what every good Technology Director needs to know about a network from a manager's point of view. Topics covered will include the basic architecture of a good network (do my switches need power-over-Ethernet? What is QOS?), trends in new network technologies for schools (ie blade servers), Voice-over-IP, and recent changes in the OSD regulations. No question is too “dumb,” so feel free to bring them with you.

Suzanne McLaughlin is the Director of Architecture and Engineering Services, and Service Operations with UNICOM Technology Group, Inc in Woonsocket, RI. Suzanne joined UNICOM in 1992 and has held various positions, including Manager of Technology Support, Manager of Network Design, Practice Manager, Solutions Architect and Technology Consultant. Prior to joining UNICOM, Suzanne worked as a programmer in the Financial Industry for two years |
