Using Google Forms to Create Formative and Summative Assessments for all Learners – Online

Adding Google Forms into your Educator Tool belt can be easy and fun! Allow me to walk you through each step of the Google Form Process. In this 4-week online class, I will introduce you to the variety of ways Google Forms can help you in the classroom. Forms lets you do everything from gathering student or parent information simply and conveniently to converting your current paper tests into online assessments which can be modified to meet the needs of all your diverse learners. Harness the Power of Google Forms! In this class you will learn how to create and distribute your own Google forms and put them to good use in your own classroom. When class with me ends you will still have a library of videos and resources you can refer back to at any time. Come learn more about how Google Forms can help to save you precious time and add new technology into your workflow.

Prerequisites Students must have a personal Google Account set-up prior to the start of the course and have a basic understanding of Google Drive. Also, students should install Chrome as their browser prior to the start of the course.
 Optional 1 Graduate Credit At the first class, participants may choose to register for 1 graduate credit through Worcester State University for an additional fee of $125.

Ryan Hamelin

Ryan Hamelin can be found most days teaching Middle School Social Studies, Religion and Technology Time at St. Joseph School in Wakefield, Massachusetts. She began her teaching career as a Humanities teacher up in Lawrence, MA at the AB Bruce School in 2004. Ryan is a dedicated career change teacher, who holds a degree in History from Rhode Island College and a Masters Degree in Teaching from Salem State University. Ryan is a Google Certified Educator and is proud to be a wife and mother.

 

Online Session 1:  Creating Google Forms

Learn the in and out basics of Google Forms. I will walk you through setting up a Form and you will discover the various ways a Form can be shared with others so that it can do its best work…collecting data.

Online Session 2:  Putting Forms to Work

You will now learn several different ways that Forms can be utilized each day in the classroom. From “Do-Nows” to “Exit Tickets” as well as student surveys and book reviews, learn how to make forms work to meet your needs.

Online Session 3:  Creating differentiated Assessments using Google Forms.

We will explore how the data you have collected in Forms can be visually displayed in charts and graphs. We will also learn about auto correcting Add-Ons such as Flubaroo and the Quiz Features built into Google Forms.

Online Session 4:  Advanced Google Forms Techniques

In this final class, we will round out our knowledge with exploring the “branching” method within Google Forms. This method can be used to create “Choose Your Own Adventure” stories that can make learning fun for all students.
