Standards in Motion
Cover core academic standards in math, science, ELA, and social studies while covering half of the technology standards in one extraordinary project. Engage even your most reluctant learners in core academics through the creation of animation. Participants will understand how critical thinking skills, storyboarding, research, and creativity can come together in this multimedia project. Using PowerPoint, paint and other tools that you already own, you and your students can learn to produce simple to sophisticated animation that can be published for authentic audiences or used for future instruction. The repetitive process of creating the animation makes the content really stick.

The Presidency and Society: 1889 - 1945
The Presidency and Society: 1889 - 1945 is designed to give students a multimedia view of each presidential era and its accompanying society. Using audio and video excerpts from a variety of sources, students can gain a three dimensional portrait of each president and the times they lived in. Students in grades 8 - 12 create PowerPoint presentations of increasing complexity to be shown as slide shows. The purpose of this project is to combine education on the American Presidency and primary sources of each presidential era as well as to teach incremental PowerPoint and multimedia skills to students, all of which will be of invaluable use in future academic and employment pursuits.

The Berkshires to Boston: The Bay State's One-to-One Planning Toolkit
One of the most substantive and exciting models in the history of school reform is the implementation of one-to-one learning where nearly all aspects of teaching and learning are fundamentally changed. Carefully designed and executed planning and implementation are vital ingredients for success. The Massachusetts Technology Collaboratives John Adams Innovation Institute has played a key role in planning and implementing urban and rural state one-to-one pilots. From this work, the MTC has created a One-to-One Planning Toolkit that addresses all aspects of the planning and implementation process including "10 Questions You Never Would Think to Ask About Learning with Laptops." Join us for this engaging session in which you will get an update on the state wireless learning pilots in the Berkshires and Boston and be able to assess your school's readiness to launch a one-to-one effort and begin to build a road map for your journey.

Lock It Down and Throw Away the Key
Network intrusions are on the rise, and often the biggest threats come from within. Teachers and students bring their own flash drives and laptops to school. These personal computing devices often bring more than just content with them - they are a gateway into your network - enabling it to be prone to phishing, worms, viruses, spyware, even theft. By locking down your environment, these devices can still be used without posing a threat. UNICOM has implemented hundreds of security solutions for schools to keep our children and our networks, safe. This session will present you with solutions that protect your network from external threats on the server level and from internal threats at the individual user/desktop level, and it will illustrate unique security features that can be customized to the individual user or across the environment.
Joebox – Your All-In-One Network Security Solution
The launch of Joebox v2.2 keeps pace with the evolution of network technology and the growing threats to your network and is adaptable to the specific requirements of your institution. During this session, we will explain how the Joebox is a cost-effective security solution for your school or district. Attend this information session and your name will be entered into a drawing for a Joebox v2.2 give-away!
