President
(unopposed)

Walter McKenzie

I am running for the office of President to continue the work we have begun in moving forward educational technology in Massachusetts by supporting educators at all levels. There is a new energy in MassCUE, evidenced in the numerous initiatives that have emerged: our leadership role in creating a New England ISTE Board to promote collaboration and coordination of resources across all six states in the region, the Webbie Awards, the Technology Leadership Symposium, Summer Boot camps, the MassCUE Blog, and two new mailing lists with weekly job listings.

If elected I will continue to work on behalf of the MassCUE membership to invigorate our organization, with particular emphases on digital communication, virtual collaboration and increased professional development opportunities for educators across the commonwealth. I pledge to reach out to other professional organizations across the state and region, to administrators at all levels, to institutions of higher education and preservice teachers, to diverse geographic and demographic populations, and to private sector partners. Together we can connect talents, resources and ideas to fully realize the potential of MassCUE in the dawning Information Age.

Thank you for your consideration.

Vice-President
(unopposed)

Annamaria Schrimpf

I am running for MassCUE Vice President. I have been a member of MassCUE for over ten years and I have been the Director of Educational Technology for the Winchester Public Schools for seven years. Prior to my directorship, I was a middle and high school Computer Education teacher and for over 17 years as a Business Educator at the junior college level. I currently hold a masters degree in Educational Technology from Lesley College and numerous DOE certifications including Directory/Supervisor and Instructional Technology Specialist.

If elected, I will bring to MassCUE my extensive knowledge of systemic change and the necessary elements to be a change agent within a school district and my diverse insights acquired from the venues that I have actively participated in throughout my professional career. Some of the current venues include advisory board member for CITI appointed by the Governor, STEM Summit IV Wingspread planner with Isa Zimmerman and Walter McKenzie; ad hoc member of a committee formed by Isa Zimmerman to investigate possible DOE licensure for the Technology Director and support to reinstate the Instructional Technology Specialist certification and an active participant in B.E.S.T.

I will also bring to this position my commitment to get technology in the hands of our students and in doing so will make them active participants of their education. MassCUE has the necessary network to make it happen for the students in Massachusetts and I would like to be instrumental in continuing MassCUE's efforts.

Thank you for your consideration.

Secretary
(unopposed)

Ellen Driscoll

I have served as the secretary to the MassCUE Board for two years. This past year, I also served on the MassCUE conference committee.

Currently, I hold the position of Coordinator of Educational Technology and Instructional Media for Plymouth Public Schools where I am responsible for the planning, budgeting and implementing programs designed to integrate technology into classroom instruction to improve student learning. I also coordinate the development of a fully functional school library program in the eight elementary, two middle, and two high schools, serving 8,722 students.

In addition, I am a Visiting Lecturer for Bridgewater State College. I have taught a number of technology courses for the Office of Graduate and Continuing Education. I enjoy teaching online courses. I was recently awarded a CAGS in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State College. I am also an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

I embrace Ralph Waldo Emerson's belief that “the secret of education lies in respecting the pupil.”

Thank you for your consideration.

Treasurer
(2 candidates)

Linda Allen

I have been serving as MassCUE Interim Treasurer since September 2006. As the incumbent, I feel that I have valuable experience with the duties of the office. I have also forged an excellent working relationship with our bookkeeper.

As Treasurer, I have formed a finance committee that is well versed in financial matters. The committee includes two past Treasurers and two individuals with extensive financial and bookkeeping knowledge. For the first time in the history of MassCUE the committee is beginning the process of setting working budgets for the various functions of the organization.

I am now retired from Central Berkshire Regional School District after thirty three years of service. During that time period I taught Biology and Chemistry for the first twenty five years. Following that, in addition to the science courses, I also taught computer repair and computer networking. I was the building technology integrator and served as the science department head. I wrote and received many grants to bolster the technology innovations used in her classrooms and school.

My technology involvements are many and varied. I became a Palm Education Certified Trainer (PETC) for my district and obtained a grant from Palm for a classroom set of handhelds. I wrote and received a DOE Technology Mentor Grant. These funds were used to provide sensor probes, graphing calculators, an LCD projector and laptop computer for the science department. I wrote and received DOE Students as Technology Leaders grant which helped to start a computer repair program. I became both CompTIA A+ and Net+ certified as a result of this endeavor. Before retiring I began a Cisco Networking Academy program at Wahconah Regional High School. I also taught the Cisco program at Berkshire Community College to incumbent workers.

Retirement for me was short lived. As a member of the MassCUE Board I have became active in the work of several committees and eventually assumed the role of Interim Treasurer. I have also become employed at Greenfield Community College as the Director of The Technology in Education Partnership of Greater Franklin County.

Thank you for your consideration.

Roger Young

I am interested in serving as the Treasurer of MassCUE. The following achievements speak to my professional experience as a school business official, leadership in technology and recognition by my peers.

School Business Official – I have recently completed 36 years of service to Massachusetts public schools as an educator with over 23 years as an exemplary school business official in the communities of North Reading , Haverhill , and the Manchester Essex Regional School District . While each of these communities had varying challenges and needs, the implementation of sound business practices and organizational support were common to them all. I am also a past president of MASBO.

Leadership in Technology – During my career I have obtained competitive technology grants; managed the technology efforts of the school district; served on the Massachusetts Department of Education Technology Advisory Committee that developed the standards for Technology Plans; prepared one of the first Technology Plans for a school district that served as a model for other school districts; served the Massachusetts Department of Education as the LEA representative to the National Forum on Education Statistics for 10 years; served as Chairman of the standing Technology Committee of the Forum; currently serve as the ASBO International affiliate representative to the Forum; and served as chairman of the ASBO International Information Systems Committee. You might also like to know that I have made presentations on technology related items at the state and national conferences including the National Center for Educational Statistics MIS and Data Conference on several occasions.

Recognition – I have been very fortunate to have been recognized for my achievements and contributions which include the following highlights.

MASBO Presidents Award for leadership as a Massachusetts School Business Official.
