Workshop 1: "Engaging Students through the Use of MassONE Online Tools"

Prerequiste: Participants must be registered for MassOne and know their Username and Password.

Directions: From Mass Pike: Take Route 495 North to Route 290 West Take Route 190 North. Take Exit 2 (stay in middle lane) to LIGHTS. Go STRAIGHT (keep right to avoid getting back onto 190). Next set of LIGHTS - go STRAIGHT to STOP sign. At STOP sign take a RIGHT onto Malden St. Norrback School is located on the LEFT approximately 1/10 of a mile.

From Route 2: Take Route 190 South to Exit 2. At LIGHTS go STRAIGHT through to STOP sign. At STOP sign take a RIGHT onto Malden St. Norr-back School is located on the LEFT approximately 1/10 of a mile.

Description of what will be covered: Teachers will be prepared to use of the following MassONE components: Virtual Hard Drive (VHD), My Folder, Discussion Forums, Calendares, Surveys, Workgroups, Teaching and Learning Resources (TLR) and Curriculum Tools. It will then be possible for teachers to extend the learning environment beyond the walls of the classroom to create a learning community with their students, an important 21 st Century skill.

What will participants take away with them from participating: Online course management will be the focus of the workshop. Teachers will have the knowledge and skills to create and conduct an online component for their classroom. Teachers will also discover a plethora of lesson plans, activities and other resources that relate to specific curriculum topics by grade level.

Materials attendees need to bring with them: No materials will be necessary but participants may wish to bring a notebook and writing implement. Handouts and a binder will be provided each participant.

Refreshments attendees can bring: Participants are welcome to bring their own refreshments but water and a light snack will be provided for attendees.
