MassCUE Supports the Massachusetts Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Initiative
As Massachusetts moves towards participation in a global economy, it is not graduating enough students
to fill STEM
workforce positions. In planning for the state's economic future, we must dramatically increase the number of highly
qualified teachers in STEM and provide them
with
timely professional development with the ultimate goal of increasing
student interest
in STEM so that students will prepare for careers in STEM industries.
To
this end, MassCUE is partnering with
the
Office of the President of the University of Massachusetts
to identify, develop
and
promote strategies and programs
that will result in a
state STEM plan and the necessary funding to support it.
